Privacy Policy for Calm Web
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Overview
Calm Web is a browser extension that makes web pages still: it stops animations, pauses media that starts by itself, freezes moving images and hides pop-ups. It does not collect, store or share any personal data.
What Calm Web stores
Only on your device, in the browser's extension storage: - the calm level you chose for each site (for example, "Calm" for one site, "off" for another); - whether "Calm every website" is switched on; - while a tab is open, how many things were calmed on that page, to show in the pop-up. This is cleared when the tab closes.
What Calm Web does not do
- It makes no network requests of its own and has no servers.
- It does not read, store or send the text or content of the pages you visit.
- No analytics, tracking, cookies or advertising.
- No account.
Permissions
- storage: to remember your choices on your device.
- Access to the sites you visit: needed to change how pages look and behave (stop motion, pause autoplay, hide pop-ups) as they load. Page content is only changed on your screen and is never collected or transmitted.
Your control
Remove the extension to delete everything it stored. You can also turn it off for any site at any time.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above will change too.
