Privacy Policy for FloatViewPro

Overview

FloatViewPro is a browser extension that provides advanced Picture-in-Picture functionality. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This extension does not collect or share any user data. The only data that ever leaves your browser is subtitle text you choose to translate with Google Translate (see below).

Data Collection

FloatViewPro does not collect any personal information or usage data. Specifically:

• No personal data is collected
• No browsing history is tracked or transmitted
• No analytics or telemetry data is sent to external servers
• No cookies are used for tracking purposes
• No data is shared with third parties
• No user accounts or sign-ins are required

Local Storage

FloatViewPro stores the following data locally on your device only using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

• User preferences: Playback speed, volume step, opacity, zoom, accent color, and other settings you configure
• Blacklisted sites: Domains where you have chosen to disable the extension
• Playback history: Recently watched video metadata (page title, URL, timestamp) stored locally for your convenience in the "Recent" tab
• Resume points: Video positions saved locally so you can resume where you left off
• Timestamp bookmarks: Moments you bookmark in videos, stored locally per video
• Window positions: PiP window size preferences per website
• Equalizer preset: The last audio equalizer preset you selected
• Translation preference: Whether subtitle translation was on, and your chosen language and service
• Subtitle files: Subtitle files (.srt / .vtt) you load are read in your browser only for the current session; they are never uploaded or stored

All of this data is stored entirely on your device. None of it is transmitted anywhere.

Permissions

FloatViewPro requests the following browser permissions:

• storage: To save your preferences and settings locally on your device
• activeTab: To detect videos and activate Picture-in-Picture on the current tab when you click the extension
• scripting: To inject the PiP player controls into the current page
• tabs: To detect when another browser tab starts playing audio, enabling the "auto-pause PiP" feature, and to check the current tab's website against your list of disabled sites. The website address is only compared locally and is never stored or transmitted
• contextMenus: To add an "Open video in FloatView" item to the right-click menu and a "Choose video" item to the toolbar icon's menu
• host_permissions (all_urls): To allow the extension to work on any website with video content

Third-Party Services

FloatViewPro does not communicate with any server of its own and contains no analytics or tracking.

Subtitle translation (optional): when you turn on subtitle translation in the FloatView window, subtitles are translated with Chrome's built-in on-device translator when your Chrome version supports it; nothing leaves your device in that case. If it is not available (or if you choose "Google Translate" in settings), the text of the subtitle lines being translated — and nothing else — is sent to Google Translate (translate.googleapis.com / clients5.google.com) to get the translation. No page addresses, account data or identifiers are sent by FloatViewPro. Google's privacy policy applies to that request: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can choose "Chrome built-in (offline)" in settings so subtitles never leave your device.

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
